I was in a psych ward after having trouble dealing with a brain injury.

A LARGE number of folks were in there because they stopped taking their meds. They all said the same thing. It makes them feel dead inside or like zombies.

One guy who stopped taking them was found in his closet with a shsotgun.

I’m not making a case for or against. I just know that a lot of folks stop their meds and that’s rough.

But what if they decide people on prozac (half the country) are too mentally unfit to have guns?

We just need to watch the oft mentioned “slippery slope”

In my youth, I grew up in a southern state where there were a lot of crazy folks, and I came later in life to grasp that the majority of them were Paranoid Schizophonics. When I go back these days to visit....the number of ‘affected’ folks seems less but my brother (who lives there) says it’s mostly because of medication usage.

His take on it is that for mass shootings...it’s all 99-percent male. If you go and talk just plain killings (knife, hammer, bat, pistol, etc)...he thinks that about a quarter of the folks are women, and their issue is being Paranoid Schizophrenics who went off their medication.

The one thing I’ve noticed (I live in Germany)...is that the Germans offer everyone a license to have or purchase weapons. But in the middle of the process....some doctor has to sign off that the guy/gal isn’t on medication or a potential threat of a Paranoid Schizophrenic type. That tends to stop these folks. The other German solution is that they won’t hesitate to throw you into some mental ward if you present a threat to anyone.

And there you have it. I am sure this case was cherry-picked for an early seizure under the new law. So many are wasting their powder on what is unarguably a no-brainer. But as you say, there is much potential for a slippery slope now that this has started.
