How does one “quit using Google”? I would like to do the same, but I’m totally retarded beyond knowing where the “power key” is located.

Use startpage. It uses g**gle to search, but does not provide them yr IP

Bing, DuckDuckGo, Dogpile, those are just three that you can use rather than Google.

Instead of Google, use DuckDuckGo.com which doesn't track or store your searches.
Also consider DogPile.com. There may be others, too.
Try using the Brave browser, founded by that CEO who got fired for contributing to the Proposition in CA which said marriage is between one man and one woman.
