I don’t know how old you are, but once upon a time, there were 3 choices at any given time, plus PBS, which was not very popular.

Don't forget the 1 or 2 UHF channels.

I am old enough that I remember not only the few channels, but also, the TV signed off with the National Anthem at midnight.

So if a person had insomnia, they didn’t even have infomercials to watch. No DVDs No VCR etc. and all the phones were dumb. LOL

UHF: Yeah, I forgot. In my time/area, very sporadic/lame content and that test pattern with the Indian head.
