Could the gunfire have trigger the smoke detector?
Firecrackers ?

All they do is set up sound collection AP’s which collect the coordinates in their zone and that is transmitted real time.
I thought the first shots were fired outside, but I’m admittedly ignorant to the details. I’ve chosen not to take part in the macabre parade the MSM likes to make of these events.
They have expanded their function. Used to be just a city-wide gunshot locator but they have apparently upped their game to deal with the new threats.
Good for them!
BANG! BANG! BANGBANGBANG!!! is a pretty good alarm generally audible for a good distance.
On second thought, that's probably as realistic as one could ask for.
Our school district already has this. It’s even a phone app. Tied directly PAST 911 to the local constabulary.
Doh!
> (the Shot Spotter works on DB of the signal to range it).
I would think it works more by relative timing from multiple pickups.
Why do you need an alarm when you can hear gunshots?
Not what I remember reading about it when it was first deployed. Could have been different versions experimenting with most accurate locating method.
Can picture students slamming books on the floor to get some free time from that test slated for the next hour....
“True. AND the firemen would likely have run into the building and managed to save some of the victims....”
And been suspended like the SWAT guys were?
How long before someone stands next to a sensor and plays the sound of a gunshot on there IPhone.
If I were a kid again and they had those, I’d try popping a paper bag. That might work.
so what’s that supposed to do if the police sit outside and talk on the radio, and let the guy walk down to Subway to get a sandwich?
This former substitute ain’t thinking this through if ha fails to advise schools to include serious charges to anyone deliberately setting off the sensor by some means NOT involving a gun. I havent been in HS for 42 years but present HS boys with a challenge...
A gunfire detector in a school?
How about using your ears.
Our city has that set up. It is very accurate. Cops get there in three minutes instead of five. So you will only be mostly dead when they arrive.
