The whole idea of commitment is "for better, for worse." Everyone makes mistakes and messes up -- everyone. Unless a spouse is flagrantly unrepentant, a mistake or even a personal failure in the other spouse (that does not involve bringing a third person into the marriage) is not a "get out of jail free" card for the irritated spouse.
