An actors' union is calling for on-set observers to monitor all sex scenes for major Hollywood films.
The move, triggered by the Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment scandal, is part of a new code of conduct from the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, which represents more than 160,000 actors in the US.
The union, SAG-AFTRA, produced a detailed seven-page guide that aims to tackle workplace sexual harassment in films, TV shows and commercials.

They already have all these rules, who are they kidding? They have them and then ignore them.
I’m far from a prude as well. I have zero desire to see a woman’s T&A in a movie. Much prefer a bare chested man for obvious reasons, but even that is not necessary lol unless it’s Chris Hemsworth as Thor. I deem than necessary.
Reason #277 why I haven't visited a theater or rented or bought a movie in 10 years.
Actors have agents, bring them along to every interaction with a studio exec or other person in a position of power.
No kidding!
What if they actually had video footage of sexual misconduct while they are filming and there are dozens of witnesses who see the misconduct???
Oh, wait...
Yep. Although I tend to like high action movies. Lately though, there has been very little coming out of Hollywood that I will pay to watch. If I see 5 movies at the theater in a year, that’s a lot.
Excellent suggestion
Movies would improve.
And, just who is pushing for these observers? The way Hollyweird is going on, Harvey himself?
They should have a camera running, just to make sure there is an objective record of what may have happened./s
“I have yet to see a nude or sex scene that enhances any of the movies I enjoy. Get rid of them”
The original Terminator, where Reese gets busy with Sarah Connor. Had to be there to explain John Connor and Reese, etc. Important plot point.
I don’t get any premium channels so nudity is rare, Sometimes I get free previews for HBO type channels which do show sex and nudity.
I uniformly dislike just about everything they show. There are exceptions of course. Every now and then I see a sex scene which is so realistic, I wonder if they actually are really doing it. Probably not.
Here’s my idea:
To ensure no actors and actresses are actually having sex in the sex scene, simply make sure the lenses are closely focused on the genitalia.
But, because it will be obvious then that they are not actually having sex, they should actually have sex, for the realism.
By actually having sex in the sex scene, this will ensure nobody is actually having sex in the sex scene.
q.e.d.
At this point, I think most of the movies are written by idea bereft folks. I have yet to say “best sex scene ever” in any movie I watch.
"Hi, I'm the sex scene watcher the Actors Union sent. Pays only $175,000 a year but someone has to do it."
” If I see 5 movies at the theater in a year, thats a lot.”
Agree
Agents, parents, and significant others have been no protection in the past.
Exactly. It seems to me that the upward margin on nudity/sex - those who choose to view the material just because of that - would be small in most cases. Nudity is easily seen at no cost. How many viewers would reason, “I like the plot, the scenery, the characters, the performers, the action ... but I won’t watch because nobody’s naked.”?
It is not at all difficult to make it clear that characters are in a sexual relationship without ten seconds or so of carefully-lit naked writhing. If a couple are in bed, in pajamas, acting affectionately before the fade-out, viewers can figure it out ... especially if a near-future scene shows a baby.
