ichard Sherman's marvelous and memorable run in Seattle is over.
Sherman told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero he has been released by the Seahawks after seven seasons in the Pacific Northwest. Sherman's departure opens up $11 million in salary-cap space for the roster-churning 'Hawks.

Everybody gets older.
Sherman was way past his prime.
Sherman was a ‘lock-down’ cornerback. He was at one time very, very good at his job. So much so that most QBs would just not through to that side of the field.
He is a very intelligent person, and he was part of a player culture of excellence that insisted on best effort which helped lead to Seattle’s only SB win.
As he got older, he got political, mostly as a reflection of the city he played in. Super intelligent guy. Probably a nice guy too.
He will probably be back as a coach someday if he chose to. I used to love watching him play, and I’m not particularly a Seahawk fan (Raiders, KC, SD).
Kinda my take as well. Smart guy, started to get political, but... Seattle.
Actually, there have been rumors that he will sign with the Pats for the last couple days.
Similar to a Steam Pipe Fitters reunion.

Only the very few stay around for a long time and they’re usually wise enough to manage their money as well.
Back in the ‘90s I did some business w a sports apparel company that had Mike Kozlowski, former Dolphins safety, as our sales rep. He told us at the time that he had so many pins in his body that he couldn’t get through an airport without setting off metal detectors.
they also balloon up in weight. It’s tough to push yourself physically and then stop playing and keep your self in shape.
