Their explanation is BS, but the truth may be more uncomfortable for them to admit.
That the framework of Alexa is horribly unsecure and someone put a timed/triggered sound into it.

Insecure, indeed. I have a friend whose whole house is now controlled by this thing. What could possibly go wrong ( cue Alexa maniacal laughter- bwahahaha)
