LYNWOOD (CBSLA) A McDonalds in Lynwood turned its golden arches upside down in celebration of International Womens Day.
The fast food chain said flipping its logo is in honor of the extraordinary accomplishments of women everywhere.
International Womens Day takes place March 8.
KCAL9s Tom Wait reported from the Lynwood location. He reported that this location seemed to be the only one taking part in the celebration locally.
19-year-old Cynthia Longoria, who lives and works in Lynwood, said she appreciated the gesture.
Thats amazing, she said, as a female in a low income family. from a minority, its great to see representation of not only my gender but in my neighborhood. It feels awesome.
She said the day is a reminder for women to become empowered.
I think about it a lot, Longoria said, because I think every day is International Womens Day. Because without women, this world would not be going around. Its just a reality of the situation.

I saw this on TV this morning. The first thing I thought of was boobs—not Ws.
I said that to my wife and she said it never occurred to her. I said men see it even when its not there.
Looks like saggy boobs. Huh.

Actually, there have been studies about the effectiveness of race in commercials.
White people’s perception of a place are not affected by the color of the people in the commercials.
People of color were something like 15% more likely to purchase a product because they saw someone that looked more like them.
So, the result is if you are going to try to get everyone to use your product, put people of color in the ads.
Of course that was 10-15 years ago when I did marketing stuff. I am sure its probably still effective. One would think that gays must really fall over themselves when they see a “like” tribe on a TV show. Because the percentage of gay people on TV far exceeds the gays in the wild.
McDonald’s “food” isn’t fit for a dog.
Why anyone would eat that stuff is beyond me.
International Women’s Day is an old communist holiday. So maybe McDonald’s PR is just channeling their inner babushka here.
Instead of the golden arches they are now the sagging breasts
Don’t forget the less familiar, “International Leave the Seat Up Day”.
Its good that it "feels" awesome, because that's the how cliches are supposed to work on the credulous, and otherwise it is a completely meaningless gesture. Now go buy something from McDonalds.

Then came the Black flight and they were replaced by the Hispanics. I had occasion to visit my old hometown a few years ago and what I saw was that a great many of the homes were turned into ramshackle rambling add ons for maximum occupancy and, well it had a much more uncomfortable feel.
Oh yeah, this was about a McD operator and their signs, what an atrocious waste of money for a mediocre if any return.
