Bucking expectations that this year's Academy Awards would be less stridently political, second-time host Jimmy Kimmel focused almost exclusively on politics, nearly dropping any pretense of humor. His monologue concluded with a call for Americans to attend a pro-gun control rally later this month and featured several barbs directed at the Trump Administration.
Just seconds into the 90th annual Oscars, Kimmel introduced Lupito Nyong'o, an actress of Kenyan and Mexican descent.
"Let the tweet storm from the president's toilet begin," Kimmel then commented.
Concluding, Kimmel made a call for Americans to attend a March 24th rally in support of new gun control legislation. Speaking to actors who might win awards, Kimmel said: "You have an opportunity and a platform to remind millions of people about important things like equal rights and equal treatment, if you want to encourage others to join the amazing students at Parkland at their March on the 24th, do that."
Kimmel hit Trump again later in the monologue, joking that he called Jordan Peele's horror film "Get Out," "the best three quarters of a movie this year."
Kimmel also name dropped Vice President Mike Pence.
"Only two of the best picture movies made more than $100 million," Kimmel said. "That's not the point. We don't make films for money. We make them to upset Mike Pence. Right?"
Kimmel also spent much of the monologue talking about the wave of sexual harassment and abuse that rocked Hollywood over the last year.
"Over the course of this evening, I hope you will listen to many brave and outspoken supporters of movements like #MeToo and #TimesUp and never again, because what they're doing is important," Kimmel said. "Things are changing for the better, they're making sure of that. It is positive change."
watched for 8 minutes then changed channel to EWTN

Soon or later businesses are going to learn that flipping the bird to half of America isn’t a good business practice.
Seems Hollyweird is too stupid to learn this lesson yet.
I don’t need to sniff crap to know that it stinks.
EXCLUSIVE: I heard Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein were going to come disguised as a very tall man in a long trench coat but they got busted by security. #Oscars

They only have a platform because we give it to them. At any time that platform could disappear as we decide to ignore them, at which time they and their platform will in effect just disappear. It is the magic of Hollywood.
Looking forward to seeing the ratings tomorrow. Will hit the lowest number since recording began. Bet on it.
Its just an echo chamber for wildly overpaid narcissists.
Good Lord, what a miserable thing watching that debacle would be. Those awards shows stink anyways.
Sounds like all of the usual Lunatic Lefty professional protestor groups are going to hijack the students little anti-gun march, like they always do.
By the time the thing happens nobody will know what the origin protest was about.
Pussy hat wearing, transgendered, white BLM feminists meet Communist, America-hating metrosexual teen agers.
Good times to be had by all
Ugh. Someone on the other thread said they were not going to tell political jokes, I was hoping they had figured out they were losing fans and we’re going to put a sock in it. Not that smart.
What a nasty man. Hope this will be the lowest rated Oscar show ever.
Our family was being inspired by the excellent tribute to Billy Graham that FOX aired tonight. If you missed it, try to find it somewhere. Hopefully, they will air it again. It was truly special.
And now, girls on trampolines.
Bring on the Juggies, Jimmy.
ABC needs to fire this asshole NOW
RIP Fox.

I had a big Jimmy Kimmel blocking the crapper here...... /s
well.... 2014.... I sure hope he doesn’t waste time watching it anymore.... I don’t.
I miss Billy Crystal, the last Oscars host to shut up and do humor.
Over 500 armed police officers are providing security for the Oscars.
Willing to bet there's a few "Evil Black Rifles" to.
Oh, and they have fences and gates and I bet they check IDs to keep out anyone not supposed to be there.
