We have tried changes in life, I now work from home and my wife switched to part time to accomodate new schedule. I have seriously considered selling while themarket is hot and moving close by, in a newer community.
All our changes seemed to work for a short while but the same patterns have emerged. the new school has bee great but they’re just a school and they have about 100 students for all grades (small classes too) so there can’t be 100% focus on my child.
we have removed the personal devices but I allow some monitored interaction with class mates, old and new.
I have all but forced exercise routines, it has turned into a way to get me to be quiet versus doing any good.
We don’t want meds but I’m not sure where else to turn.
This is going to sound funny but, what is he angry about?
All of these things often point to a deep seated rage over something. It might be something that is totally illogical to you but in his mind it is a big thing. Something he can not get past.
Or I may be totally off base.
When our son was having a breakdown, we opted for neurotherapy. It’s a feedback type of therapy, and for us, it worked! No drugs.
Please check it out, We saw great results after the very first session.

Please don't automatically discount meds because they have a bad stigma lately. Meds can and do work but it oftentimes means adjustments. Work with the doctors to find a happy medium, a dose or medication that works for your child.

Stay away from the SSRIs. -Or just read the warning label. Seems most parents don’t do that.
What is the living arrangement? It sounds like he lives with his mother, closeby to you.
Twelve y.o. male = hormones coming in. FME male hormones don’t do well and are not understood in a woman-run household. He may be frustrated and depressed due to his development being in conflict with his surroundings and an (imposed) way-of-life, ergo value system.
Been thru same situation except with much younger child. Meds will work wonders when brain is out of balance IF properly monitored and controlled.
I am going to sound like a kook but your family may be under demonic attack. FR offers the best advise anywhere and if that isn’t working the prayer machine here is unmatched.
Saint Michael the archangel
defend us in battle
be our protection
against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him
we humbly pray
and do thow
O prince of the heavenly host
by the power of God
cast into hell Satan
and all the evil spirits
that prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen

Use what works. My best friend is a 60 year-old CPA and he needs Ritalin but he won’t take it. He’s almost homeless.
I will be praying. We have lot’s of teens in the family and I used to mentor teens. What may help is advise from an outsider.Give them a number of someone you trust that they can call-no questions asked.Stay positive with them. Some teens express themselves in anger. As long as they are not hurting you are throwing things let them go.The suicide part should be handed by a professional with private visits. They do grow out of this if it’s not mental.I am going to say a rosary for your family tomorrow.((((Hugs))))
Prayers up for your child and you...
Is it possible your child is being sexually abused or bullied?
Why not take medication if the doctors reccomend? Dont listen to all the crap about antidepressants that you see on the net and also on FR. They have drastically improved the lives of many millions.
Give your child a complete medical work up. Graves disease caused a great deal of emotional issues in my child.
