LOS ANGELES - A Joshua Tree couple were arrested Thursday after allegedly keeping their three children locked in a box for four years, authorities said.
San Bernardino County deputies found the children, aged 11,13 and 14, in a plywood box with no electricity or running water on Sun Fair Road in Joshua Tree, according to the Sheriff's Department. Authorities said the box was 20 feet long, 10 feet wide and 4 feet high.

The State of our Union is in deep trouble.
This is what happens when there is a morality deficit in a country.
Sick, twisted creatures. Further proof that Satan is hard at work in our fraying, decaying culture. Lord help us.
I saw this on FOX news this morning. I thought they said the whole family was living in a box, but I wasn’t paying much attention if it was just the kids.
I thought they said they were all living there too.
I thought they said they were all living there too.

These reports of child torture seem to be increasing. Is it because there are more cases, or because of communication saturation?
I don’t remember any similar incidents of child abuse or torture during my lifetime. My own family was large with dozens of cousins. We were working class, living in Christian communities that set the tone for God’s love.
How can this child abuse be prevented without government involvement/monitoring? Neighbors and family members are not doing the job.
Yes, the headline is misleading. It says the children were locked up as if they were in a dungeon, but in reality it was their home and the whole family was living there.

Not “parents”...demons.
Prayers for those kids to recover from this experience.
As a past parent of that age group I understand the temptation to stick your kids in a box.
I also saw this on FOX and came away with the idea that the parents were living in a trailer. The kids were in a shack assembled from plywood, tarps, scrap materials. They showed a picture of a travel trailer roughly 30 feet in length. I assumed the parents were in that.
...said Captain Obvious of the local Sheriff's Department.
The question is whether they ever let the children out.
So apparently the two parents were basically arrested for being poor and trying to subsist without being wards of the state ...
“I assumed the parents were in that.”
FNC quotes the sheriff as saying the trailer was abandoned ... whole family was living in their tiny, homemade shack ...
