Cruz’s confession stops the investigation into what happened and the effort then goes into prosecution.

Makes sense, if you want to cover up something. I wonder if the Florida state people have gotten in to investigate. I don't trust the FBI at all, and it's obvious that the Broward County Sheriff's department is highly compromised and partisan.

I just told you everything I know about Florida politics - but I do seem to recall Rick Scott making some kind of announcement early on after the school shooting that because the county LEO forces seemed to be so involved/compromised, he would be calling in the FDLE.

I don’t know if that happened, nor can I speak to the effectiveness/integrity of said FDLE.
