Years ago the town of Narrowsburg, NY put on a nice fireworks display on 4th of July, UNTIL a bunch of bunny huggers convinced the town board that the fireworks and loud booms stresses out the eagles who nest along that stretch of the Delaware. Never mind these birds have been exposed to thunder and lightning for the last million years or so.
In Florida, where temporary firework store tents are setup for many holidays, there are restrictions on fireworks that are more ‘powerful’ than legal sparklers. To get them, you must sign a legal waiver that states your purpose for purchasing these more powerful items. If you read this form carefully, you will notice that you’re stating that you intend to use the fireworks for an approved purchase, such as use on your farm or at your fish hatchery to scare off animals.
AMAZING how many incidents there are of ‘scaring off animals’! Our family dogs are found under the bed in July and January!
