Former CBS correspondent Sharyl Attkisson accused the Department of Justice (DOJ) of monkeying around with her hard drive while her computer was in their possession. She tweeted on Thursday, "What would you think if I told you the hard drive of one of my personal computers was secretly switched out w/another while in custody of the Justice Dept. Inspector General-- before they gave it back to me?"

Once the police have possession of your computer you might as well write it off as a complete loss. It will likely be packed with spyware and transmitting everything you do or say near it back to the police. Maybe donate it to EFF so they can do some forensics and work on countermeasures with it.

I believe the Feds just returned her computer to her after taking it from her when she made her initial accusation.
She’s saying they tampered with evidence.

Laughable. This is inspector Clouseau tactics, and it’s the FBI.

Very interesting! DOJ got caught illegaly wiretapping her. Then took her computer and wiped the evidence. The IG is involved, according to this thread. Doesn’t bode well for our chances with the IG.

She thinks that would be difficult? That is just a standard thing to do in any computer shop. The contents are just Ghosted over to an identical hard drive, then switched. Takes only about a half an hour, if the shop is pressed. The old drive can then be searched sector by sector for the residue of "deleted" files whose data is still there and not over-written.
To think this is difficult would be totally ignorant of how computers work.

That woman is seriously one of my role models, I wanted to be an investigative journalist growing up and didn't for all the reasons that Sharyl Attkisson has pointed out, the corruption and incest in media/government.

I would think that’s about par.
Do not bring the computer into your work or home. Take it immediately out for target practice. Then pour acid on it. Finally torch it.
