A riverside home in the heart of the countryside that inspired Kenneth Grahame to write The Wind in the Willows has gone on the market for £3.45m.
The aptly-named Toad Hall overlooks the picturesque Cookham Reach of the River Thames in Berkshire.
The stunning manor comes with 130ft of private mooring and wet boathouse, which make it the perfect place for messing about on the river.

So do I.
And 20,000 Leagues under the Sea.
The house is lovely, but it isn’t as grand as the Toad Hall of my imagination. Where is the grand hall where the battle between Our Heroes, led by Badger, against the Weasels and Stoats, take place?

Why, in such plush homes, do they have the commode out in the open, in the master bath?

A nice-sized country house - about twice as big as my surburban domicile here in Boring - would look pretty darn big to badgers and weasels and stuff.
I think the whole place is darling, although the overwrought bathrooms don’t impress me. I wish I had $5 million, more or less, to buy it!

Its still operating at Disneyland.

Why not? Seems the problem isnt the plumbing so much as the number of guests you tend to bring with you.

Thanks C19fan. I can't afford anything at all, but get sidetracked into looking at online ads for EU properties. I don't know about the UK taxes, but this looks relatively speaking like a bargain.

I’ll take it. My only beef is the strange chairs in that beautiful boat. Turn the key, fire the engine up, hit the accelerator, fall over backwards.
Looks like I need to buy more lotto tickets.

Lotto, i'd forgotten about that option. Of course, it always seems to forget about me as well. When they said it had access to the Thames, they weren't kidding.

Not sure I would like to spend that much to have a business
renting sale boats right across from me.
At least that’s what it look like to me in one pick.
To: missthethunder
The article said the property opposite is owned by the National Trust and can’t be developed.
