Did the on-line streaming have NBC’s obnoxious “human not very interesting” pajama-gram stories every 2 minutes, or was it just the sports? And the actual live action?
By the way, the coach of this curling team CLOBBERED Kirstie Alley on Twitter. So give the curling coach a gold medal in Twitter PWNING.
Yeahhhh... if you win gold in curling, ok cool i guess. But you don’t celebrate and high 5, and drape yourself in the flag like you just beat the Russian hockey team in Lake Placid.
And the clips from around the northern plains of the USA were great. Fans in MN, WI, the Dakotas, IO etc. watching in pubs through the night and the exaltation when the US scored 5 on one play in End 8 was terrific. It had what so much of this Olympics was missing: authenticity. These guys did their best to come back from 7th place to win the gold simply because they love this unsung sport, and it made those who watched them love it, too.
I hope it leads to more interest in the sport.
God knows it makes more sense than snowboarding.
Congratulations to the team, but winning the gold medal in curling in Soith Korea in 2018 just doesn’t have the same sense of exhilaration and pride as a gold medal in hockey at Lake Placid in 1980.
The Curling team is a bit older, a bit less full of themselves than the younger athletes, and more Americans could identify with them. Americans pretty much had it with the NBC announcers, Lindsay Vonn, the two gay skaters, and miscellaneous tantrum throwing divas. Not to mention the adulation for MsRocket Woman, known to torture/kill her political opponents .. and then DARE to compare her to Ivanka Trump. So this year, the Curling team was the American sweetheart team.
Mr. T became a big curling fan. He coined probably the best Twitter hashtag ever #curlingiscoolfool.
It’s an oddly relaxing and invigorating sport to watch. I grew up near Detroit and watched it often on Canadian TV.
Caught about half of the Gold medal game today.
Gold in curling. Another one checked on the lifetime bucket list ....
