But I do follow instrumental music a bit, and it’s clear that Chinese artists are coming more and more to dominate symphonic solo performances. In fact it’s not unreasonable to say that the Chinese may be “saving” classical music.

There are plenty of Asians that play classical music. Did they forget about Yo Yo Ma?
Black musicians are typically more interested in Jazz, marching band, and other genres. They can play many of the same instruments, and people like Wynton Marsalis do, very well I might add. Condi Rice is an incredible piano player.

They're not insane, they're relentless. Destroying beauty in art and architecture as we know it and replacing it with ugliness and blandness is one of the tenets outlined in the old USSR plan to subvert our culture. Classical music is practiced around the world. There are numerous examples of Asians, women, blacks, homosexuals, etc. being involved in it at various levels. The real issue is that one is either with the medium or not. It is highly demanding to the extent that if one’s compositional, performance or technical efforts are not up to the task, then that’s just too damned bad for that person who is then welcome to try their hand at something else.
If that is not sufficient for its detractors then they can go to hell.
