Very cool! I imagine Brits at the Daily Fail writing “there were Finns in the American colonies???” Try telling them there were the Dutch.

Bet those ADA ramps weren’t part of the original build.

I admit I’m confused by the Finnish settlers description. I only knew of the settlement as Swedish. I had an 8th ggf who was Vice-Director of the colony 1658-64, after the Dutch took it over. Absolutely fascinating to see an interior so well preserved or rebuilt.

Nice, but not very livable by today’s standards, even for Section 8.

I’m betting they’re living in the larger structure attached to the one room cabin.

Can anyone tell me why the moderator removed the pictures? They’re by Caters New Agency, which I hadn’t heard was ever on the banned list.

Sweden controlled Finland at the time, the settlers were probably ethnic Finns.

I remember being an innocent 18 year old living next door to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House, which is levels and levels of roofs. I ran out in a rainstorm to watch the water cascade from roof to roof, only to learn about rain gutters. Such a disappointment.

Quaint house, looks like a neat place to visit and explore.
But, the gutters do stick out like a sore thumb.

I have a dressed stone from a log cabin built by my direct ancestor in the late 17th c. Until about 15 years ago, the land was still titled in his name which tells you they were illiterate hillbillies. 😊
