Probably not, but I’ve recently discovered that several classically trained sopranos are singing lead in heavy metal bands and the result is actually quite spectacular.

The Metropolitan Opera, the Cleveland Orchestra or any world class cultural institution exists because the public pays to enjoy their performances and the money thus generated pays the rent of the facilities and salaries of the musicians. The PUBLIC who consumes the performances WANTS the music of old dead white men. If somebody comes along and disagrees with that premise then I suggest they start their own opera or orchestra and perform whatever works you consider relevant in your world view. Methinks you will go broke posthaste. In the end it’s totally up to the consumer.
Pat Benatar also trained in opera singing (don’t know how long), but she became a rock singer. I like Pat’s cover of “Wuthering Heights.”
