Dominating the weekend and delivering one of the largest opening weekends of all-time, Disney and Marvel's Black Panther topped the President's Day weekend box office, outperforming its nearest competitor by nearly $175 million based on estimates. As a result, fellow new wide releases were left in the dust with both Lionsgate's Early Man and PureFlix's Samson struggling in the low single digits. The weekend did, however, have other notable performances such as Sony's Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which became the studio's second highest grossing domestic release of all-time, and Fox's The Greatest Showman, which has now topped $150 million at the domestic box office.
Atop the weekend box office with an estimated $192 million for the three-day weekend, Black Panther delivered the fifth largest three-day domestic opening in history and is currently expected to finish around $218 million for the four-day holiday weekend. The performance is also the largest February opening of all-time, the largest President's Day weekend opening of all-time and gives Disney eight of the top ten domestic openings of all-time. Within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Black Panther is the eighteenth release in the franchise and the ninth to open with over $100 million. It's also the second largest opening in the MCU, behind only The Avengers ($207.4m) and topping the $191 million debut for Avengers: Age of Ultron.

To quote an all-time classic movie...”Well, Frankly by dear, I don’t give a damn.”.
Yeah! We representin’ up in this beyotch!
You know what you Chalkies need to do — lets have a conversaton.... You peoples needs ta go ahead, buy a ticket to dis move, an’en don’t show up. Better yet, gift it to a Person Of Color who can’t afford to see it.
Probably the hidden racis’ in me but I have no desire to go see it. At all.
I’m at a coffee shop next to a movie theater. It’s super crowded.
218 million could have bought a lot of books, meals, school uniforms, birth control, after school tutors, Dave Ramsey classes.
You know, useful stuff.
I could say the same for all the Whites going to see the latest Star Wars movie.
Do Movie Theaters take EBT now?
Just askin’...
I haven’t been in a movie theatre since “Top Gun” first came out...haven’t missed it either.
I have cable, but no premium channels.
I seldom watch TV either.
“Panther” is just an “nay-nay-nay-nay-nahhhhh-nay” slap at white superheroes. More cultural and societal crap, than entertainment. Just a big CGI event, that’s all.
Just spoke to my son. He saw the film. He said that it was “ok - notheing special.” Wasn’t must humor...very “serious” film.
To quote an all-time classic movie...Well, Frankly by dear, I dont give a damn..
Most overrated movie of all time was “Gone With the Wind.”
Huge opening. I wonder where it will be in three weeks though?
It seems like A LOT of artificial hype, because of the typical leftist black worship over guilt.
From a review "Wakanda is ruled by King TChalla (Chadwick Boseman), who is also known as the Black Panther. TChalla is big on border security, believes Wakanda and Wakandans should come first, and fiercely protects his countrys culture from outsiders, including refugees. If this is all starting to sound familiar, it should. Also like President Donald Trump, TChallas beliefs are not based on race. This is not a black thing. This is a culture/survival thing."

I don’t get super-hero movies in general. Seems very childish to me. Doesn’t matter what color they are. Whether it be Batman, Spider Man or whatever else, I’m thinking target audience of 7-12 year old boys.
Black Panther - Produced by Kevin Feige (who is white)... Production company is Marvel Studios... Distributed by Walt Disney Studios...
Are they accepting EBT cards? That could explain this travesty.
My neighbor posted a pic of the theater crowds on her Facebook page. It's a huge hit, no doubt about that.
So Whitey ends up getting rich from it in the end.
I always point out the fact that the reason white music executives love rap music, is because it’s cheap to produce and very profitable for them, that’s why it was dumped on the masses in the 80s.
I thought this movie was about the REAL black panthers. Bobby Seale, Huey Newton, Angela Davis, etc.....
