Just finished watching one of the local TV news programs. Unbelievable the way GUN CONTROL is being pushed in almost EVERY SINGLE STORY.
*Students at the school call for gun control (I actually CHECKED the time on this story. In a two minute story 1:45 was devoted to GUN CONTROL while 15 seconds was given to the pro-Constitution position). The superintendent of Broward county schools agrees with the kids that we need a gunless society.
*Newtown Connecticut citizens agree with some in Parkland that we need gun control
*A security guard PRETENDED to hold a gun and point it at a crowd of students. This happened six weeks ago. People want him fired.
*A girl in Parkland has a deceased grandpa who was involved in a "mass shooting" in 1949. She has tweeted to President Trump that gun control is the answer.
*A mother survived a shooting years ago, and now her son did. Gun control is needed.
*Some guy bought an AR-15 but NOW he returned it for a refund because he feels guilty or something.
We seem to have gone from Russia Russia Russia to GunControl GunControl GunControl.
He bought that gun legally. What law would have stopped him from getting it? There’s laws against murder too; how well is that law working out? We need more laws against murder.
It will for a week and then another shiny penny will catch their attention. Usual cycle.
I believe the Big Three are owned by their respective networks. The Fox affiliate is owned independently by a local billionaire whose name escapes me at the moment. It has the best news coverage in terms of hours of news per day, but it’s been very sensationalized for about the past 20 years. The former news director’s motto was, “if it bleeds, it leads.”
I’m all for them controlling thugs’ and wackos’ guns.
Ignore.
Ignore.
“Disagree.”
What you just described is CT.
People in the north and east are pro-gun types, and the cities yadda yadda. Same with Pennsylvania.
But both states have a -population- that supports disarming even if it’s not regional. There are simply more people (And hereby what I said: Culture) who are against us than for.
And that is CT. Although Florida follows more parallels than just guns.
?
I’m all for gun control. My suggestion for accomplishing that is Criminal Control.
***Unbelievable the way GUN CONTROL is being pushed in almost EVERY SINGLE STORY. ***
You should have seen what happened back in 1968 after Bobby Kennedy was murdered. Total hysteria meltdown. They blamed TV shows, pulp fiction novels, comic books, cartoons, NRA, “violent” movies.
Result was...
Adult TV shows, still safe for kids, were dumbed down into kiddie shows.
Anti-gun rants were added to ALL TV shows for almost twenty years.
Comic books became super mild.
Pulp fiction changed their covers from blood and sex soaked scenes.
But the movies said they would police themselves with a joke of a ratings system.
Once the Hayes Code was dead they proceeded to reshoot and add more sex and blood to get the coveted “R” rating.
And this was long before violent video games came on the scene.
Democrats shouldn’t be able to own Guns.
It’s the only Gun Control that would work.
Have the Miami Stations used Cuba as an example of Gun Control yet?
The news cartels need to be broken up because there is only one voice in what is falsely labeled as news.
So youre telling me CT is a 2A State or was sometime in the last 50 years?
“So youre telling me CT is a 2A State or was sometime in the last 50 years?”
CT has always been very friendly to giving CCW, and open carry wasn’t really a public alert until Sandy Hook.
Lots of people carried, and owned lots of firearms - the only BS there was was the continuation of the Clinton ban. And that’s still going on.
So it was collapsing / folding stocks, bayonet mounts and muzzle toys mainly. Stupid stuff. And CT was just about to get real on the whole topic before Sandy Hook.
But look at the state in context: MA, NY, NJ, RI etc. It’s actually a sanctuary.
Is this any surprise? As a former journalist, I can say that members of my former profession are among the laziest and most brainwashed people on earth. At J-school, they get a good dose of liberal indoctrination, coupled with a helping religious-like zeal that it is their mission to transform society. And, factor in a desire to become a rich, famous, celebrity and you have the mindset of most journos.
Fact is, gun control won’t stop school shootings, and neither will arming ever teacher. Effective security depends, first and foremost, on acknowledging there is a potential problem, and committing the resources required to deal with it. Next, you conduct a real-world threat assessment for every potential target. Look at it from the criminal’s point of view, and spare no amount of effort, creativity or analysis. Then, start formulating a plan, based on multiple layers of security that will deter over 90% of potential school shootings.
This isn’t rocket science. The Israelis have had a very effective system in place for years, one that deterred terrorist attacks before the security wall was put into place. It’s built around physical barriers, limited entry control points, armed/well-trained security personnel and a small number of teachers who have weapons inside the school.
But talking about realistic solutions takes too much time and besides, journos know that kind of coverage doesn’t advance their agenda. Much easier to cover politicians who scream gun control as the only answer, and lavish coverage on kids who survived the shooting and have been converted to the cause.
