Read through this whole thing, and didn’t see many actual love songs. A lot of joke things (like Put Another Log on the Fire) Nobody taking it very seriously. But I am - so here are some that should not have been forgotten:
Jud Strunk Daisy a Day

I think this is the ultimate love song.
Jerry Wallace After You

Englebert Humperdinck After the Lovin

Really would not ever go for anyone this far down on the food chain, but like they say about a stopped clock being right every now and then, this is a true love song.
Jimmy Sweeney She Wears My Ring

This guy I always referred to as Nashville’s Jackie Wilson. OMG could he sing. Boudleaux and Felice Bryant wrote this beauty, but many things I encountered said it was adapted from La Golondrina. A simple YouTube will tell you that’s the truth. Thinking back on my Jackie Wilson theory - Sweeney has the range and beauty of voice of Jackie Wilson - and perhaps the Bryants have noticed that, too. And so they took this melody from La Golondrina and gave it very different lyrics. Because at that time, Jackie was doing things like Night, Alone at Last, etc.

I Want to be Living For the Love of You
The Isley Brothers
Driftin’ on a memory
Ain't no place I'd rather be
Than with you,
Lovin’ you
That version was 1965, it was really superb....what a voice! I fell in love with that song in late 1971, and today it still envelopes me, when I hear it...bringing back memories. Awesome song! Thanks for that link!
Thanks for 1955 version, it was way before my time to be interested in boys, as a little girl...lol However, as the basis for the version by Righteous Brothers that came later, it’s a great song! Elvis did a rendition of it in 1977, shortly before died.
ROFL...that last statement you made is hilarious! Ghost use of Unchained Melody made me cry! Leslie Neilson was a funny guy. Thanks for link....will get back to you after I watch it.
OK..I watched it, very funny stuff! Are you sure that was Neilson body (muscles?)...lol Her catching him was hilarious. Thanks, enjoyed the video.
I’ll see your Chicago and raise you a Leonid and Friends, Wishing You Were Here.

He's Got the Power (1963)
Little Mother--Vaughn De Leath (1928)
Sonny Boy--Ruth Etting (1928)
That is very sweet. Love that old sound.
I have an equal for the sad category in an instrumental about the Aremenian genocide:
Lévon Minassian - “They Have Taken the One I Love”

...or this Soviet one about missing his family while fighting in WWII:

Translation of lyrics:
Dark night, only bullets are whistling in the steppe,
Only the wind is wailing through the telephone wires, stars are faintly flickering...
In the dark night, my love, I know you are not sleeping,
And, near a child’s crib, you secretly wipe away a tear.
How I love the depths of your gentle eyes,
How I long to press my lips to them!
This dark night separates us, my love,
And the dark, troubled steppe has come to lie between us.
I have faith in you, in you, my sweetheart.
That faith has shielded me from bullets in this dark night...
I am glad, I am calm in deadly battle:
I know you will meet me with love, no matter what happens.
Death is not terrible, we’ve met with it more than once in the steppe...
And here it looms over me once again,
You await my return, sitting sleepless near a cradle,
And so I know that nothing will happen to me!
Dance Me to the End of Love by Leonard Cohen

This video is so sweet with the older couples.
Very nice old tunes. Love the old pics used in the video, too.
Love for a newborn
The Moment I Saw You by Graham Nash and Nicollette Larson:
https://youtu.be/yOdBDatm3yM
This version is in Finnish. The singer also did it in Russian, but the recording isn't as good.
Mantsurian Kommut (the hills of Manchuria)--Laila Kinnunen (1962)
