During Mondays Fox Sports 1 broadcast of The Herd, Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long shrugged off the NFLs ratings drop being attributed to players like teammate Malcolm Jenkins protesting the National Anthem.
Long said that a lot of people are having more fun watching football than ever and players are putting their social consciences over the leagues success.

I guess he’s reached the point where he has made enough money...
Where would Chris Long be today if it were not for a guy named Howie?
Bender2 approves of this message . . .
He doesn’t seem to understand that his paycheck isn’t generated by some magic money machine in the owners’ basements. Hey Chris — those ratings are what pays your salary. I hope you enjoy playing football for $50,000 a year at some point in the future because that’s where your social conscience is leading the league.
Well-to-do liberals are trouble for America. They unite with takers to destroy.
That’s because they all failed Economics 101 so they know nothing about how the Business they are in actually works. When this asshole and a few other scumbags skip the White House it will add more fuel to the fire that is destroying the BLM/NFL.
I am so glad he’s not a Ram anymore.
I’m sure Daddy shares many of the same beliefs. But at least Howie is smart enough to keep his mouth shut; he knows that when the SJW masquerading as pro football players kill the golden goose known as the NFL, there are going to be a lot of marginally-skilled ex-jocks looking for work.
One more thing: being a “woke” player doesn’t exactly endear you to sponsors. Haven’t seen Long in a single ad, and don’t expect to. Hope he’s saving those millions he’s making in the NFL. Doesn’t look like endorsements will add very much to his income.
This is good. Let’s see if they care more about their “social conscience” than fat paychecks and glitzy contracts. Should be an interesting year for the NFL. They are apparently blind and deaf as to the expectations of fans or potential fans.
“after retiring from the National Felons League.”
What retiring? If they keep going using his and the woe is me thought process, the league will be in a section 13 long before he can retire. Years ago we called this a death wish. It’s a lot like voluntary suicide.

Where would Chris Long be today without people stupid enough to continuously purchase game-day tickets?
LOL. He’s willing to sacrifice the league’s money for his social conscience. Let’s see him offer to give up a bunch of his salary and put some skin in the game.
I am exercising my social conscience by refusing to watch these wife and girl-friend beaters..but hey, to each his own.
He would be one of the larger, more tattooed guys schlepping packages around in the local warehouse for $10.47/hour.
ROTFL! Then why are they accepting millions of dollars to play football? Shouldn’t they be out in the streets protesting and looting Walmarts? Lying hypocrites and frauds.
You're probably right, but the economics for pro sports is based on ever-increasing revenues. TV networks are still the golden goose, to the point ticket revenue is an afterthought. Let's see how season ticket renewals go this year.
Players and teams have become used to salary cap levels growing year after year. What happens when next year's level doesn't increase as much as they thought?
All signs point to a very contentious CBA negotiation when the contract is up in 2021. If the players were smart (we all know better than that, especially the owners), they would save enough money to carry them through a year long strike. They have three years to do that. Otherwise, the owners will be able to wait them out.
Because like typical Liberals they believe money grows on trees and thus fail to see any connection between ratings and the continuance of their absurdly high salaries.
I don’t know. He has two more Superbowl rings than I will ever have.
He has zero influence on my life. But I respect his ability.
