The Dutch have fun with Katie Couric's strange comments about speedskating

When it comes to trolling at the Olympics, the Dutch are gold medal winners. First a pair of Dutch speedskating fans had a laugh at U.S. president Donald Trump’s expense. Now they’re taking aim at American broadcaster Katie Couric after some incorrect assumptions she made about the country when it was introduced during the Opening Ceremony. As the Netherlands entered the PyeongChang Olympic Stadium during Friday’s parade of nations, Couric shared a theory on why the Dutch are so good on the oval.

I was never a big follower of perky Katie but this is nothing new for her. I recall her saying stuff during the 2000 Sydney summer games that led me to the obvious conclusion that perky was a moron.

I respectfully disagree. In this case, I am quite confident that Her Perkiness learned all she needed to know about Dutch speedskating one Sunday night in the 60’s, when Little Katie saw “Hans Brinker or The Silver Skates” on Walt Disney. I am absolutely sure that is where her comment came from. And that is journalism for you in the 21st century.
