If recent trends continue, itll only get worse.
...
NBC* paid $963 million for the rights to air the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, a 24 percent jump over the $775 million it paid for the last Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
...
Viewership declines arent really surprising, as similar trends have unfolded across the TV landscape and viewers opt for on-demand and online entertainment alternatives. Even football and the Super Bowl considered the last holdouts where advertisers could guarantee huge live audiences would be watching are not immune.

Sure viewing for me is hockey and short track skating events. I will also watch some ski jumping and down hill events, that’s it.
I recorded the Team Figue Skating and the Moguls runs last night. When I started watching, I realized that, in the first 40 minutes, I had seen exactly 4 short programs (2-3 minutes) of mens figure skating. Nearly everybody fell at least once. If I watch anything in the Olympics this year, I will certainly DVR it as I could not care less in regards to all the talking, opinions, etc, of the commentators. SHUT UP AND SHOW US THE COMPETITIONS!
Even with Direct TV its very difficult to find events to watch..............
If you can download the NBC Sports App you can watch event replays anytime.
The networks have never broadcast my sport anyway.
They’d rather rerun the quarterfinals of the men’s fardling event a dozen times than show “less popular” sports.
Thats why right there.
The new normal is just not.
I wont be watching queers, thats for sure.
You can also go to nbcolympics.com and watch the events live or archived in their entirety. It’s not the TV feed so you don’t get all the syrupy crap. Unfortunately they have some commercials though. I’ve been able to watch the events I want for the last four Olympics without spending one second on the TV network.
skating last night, opening tonight, go figure. I think the Norks had to skate to Seoul because their plane broke down.
Yeah I agree. It was better the old way.
Not gonna watch.
IMO, there is way too much chatter during the figure skating events.
With a few minor improvements she’d make a good template for a female robot.
Then there is Russian curler Anastasia Bryzgalova, we're stuck with NFL coach Andy Reid six weeks after he starts a crash diet...
'MURRICA!!!!
YEAH!!!
Curling is Cool!
Nobody ever accused liberals of being intelligent.
One thing I like about it is the “women” are actually women, not little girls.
