'This is what we do to kids in Mexico': Drunk stranger 'spanks man's toddler son' in a grocery store after hearing the two-year-old cry when he was told he couldn't have a candy bar A drunk man was arrested in a Georgia grocery store on Tuesday after allegedly spanking a stranger's toddler son when he heard him whining that he was not allowed a candy bar.
Juan Guvarra Martinez, 62, was standing behind James 'Logan' Morris in line at a Kroger in Newnan, near Atlanta, on Tuesday.
He overheard Morris's son ask for a candy bar and watched as he began to cry after being told no.
The man is then said to have grabbed the boy by the arm and hit him around the wrist before twisting him round to spank his bottom three times.
According to boy's father, he told him: 'This is what we do to kids in Mexico.'
Morris, a plumber, was calm and took his son back, saying: 'Buddy, we are not in Mexico.'
He paid for his goods and sent his son and the rest his family outside then waited as police arrived to question the man.
Video of them arresting Martinez, who was dressed in construction worker's clothes, was obtained by The Newnan Times Herald.
It shows him standing by the cash register, confused as he is put in handcuffs.
According to the officers, he reeked of alcohol and seemed drunk.
Morris said the man hit his son three times on the backside. The child stopped crying and was in shock, he said.

“Yea, but if somebody else tried to spank you, Ill bet your mom or dad would have laid them out.”
OH YEA????
I got slapped on the leg and scolded by an elderly lady for misbehaving when I was 4. I never told my parents. You know why? I would have gotten smacked on the bottom again for having a stranger to correct my behavior in public!!!!
Exactly, I wouldn’t have been calm.
“My dad said if he heard I was spanked at school I might not want to come home, because compared to what he would do, the nuns would just be a warm up.”
ML that was all our parents back in the day.
I didn’t spank my kids in public. I took them to the car and I didn’t have to do it often before they learned I meant business.
If it was either of my Sons, the dude would be a colander.
You don’t touch other people uninvited, period. I don’t know what it is in Mexico, but it is assault in the USA.
Morgana, I’m with you this , the father should’ve spanked him again .
“Morris said the man hit his son three times on the backside. The child stopped crying and was in shock, he said.”
Well it worked dinn’it?
Probably the first time that kid got spanked.
In many parts of the country, Georgia included, the dad would have been honor bound to beat that drunk mexican half to death for laying hands on his child.
Agree. They do not discipline as a rule.
First temper tantrum I ever saw in a store was the SEARS store in Tulsa, Oklahoma back in 1971. the kid, about 4 years old, threw a fit then laid down on the floor at the top of the escalator, refusing to move.
The second temper tantrum I saw was in The same store, a 16 year OLD kid bawling because his mom was taking her time shopping. I still remember his whinny words...”AW MOM, I’VE GOT A DATE! YOU NEVER THINK OF ME!”
Too funny!
I used to work with a Pakistani fellow who had a brother in the U.K. Apparently there they run PSA’s on TV telling kids to report parents who physically punish them.
This caused the brother’s kid to become an insufferable spoiled brat. He would literally threaten his parents. “You’d better not spank me or I’ll call that number and report you.”
So his dad arranged a trip to Pakistan to visit Grandpa. They cleared customs. The dad took a left, walked him down a quiet corridor on the airport, and proceeded to wail on his backside for all he was worth.
It is safe to assume that some goat humping muzzie can take offense at your teenage daughters clothing being too revealing and them hauling off and beating, stoning, acid spraying them for you as you stand there and nod approvingly.
Same here. Double for the fact that, A. He was drunk. B. He’s Mexican. I don’t like either.
And how do you know that?
“It takes a Village”
Must be a Hillary guy
Yahoo carried it today. Also saw it on local news here in the Dallas area.
