Oh, who am I kidding. I just needed a segue to post some John Corbett.
Is that the guy in ‘Big Fat Greek Wedding’? I like that movie.
My daughter and I loved that movie.
I used to use chap stick on my kids burns, healing scabs, etc.
My daughter would moan,,, “Oh Mom, Chapstick is your Windex!”
Grew up in the Chicago area. My mom’s folks are Eastern European. They loved garlic and they loved lamb.
Every Sunday in the summer (or at least it seemed that way) we would go to a Greek picnic. It wasn’t until I was in the 2nd grade that I figured out that not every American went to Greek picnics on Sundays in the summer!
My Grandpa had a lamb roasting pit in his back yard and he taught me how to baste the lamb with olive oil and garlic and what to pay attention to as it was roasting. My Grandma taught me how to make egg noodles from scratch. She would get out her “noodle cloth” that she would place on her dining room table and roll the dough out and slice the dough into noodles. Then we would hang them out on her enclosed back porch. She would store them in left over Quaker Oats tubes. She had dozens of those boxes. Spent many hours in her kitchen cooking with her.
Someday gotta figure out her white layer, green layer jello mold.
My love for cooking appears to be genetic!
I love that movie.
I also love how my Greek friend knows every Greek person in the USA. And plenty in Greece. Jews actually do NOT all know each other, but Greeks really do. ;) I used to try and stump her. stephanopoulus? Her uncles best friend. John Stamos? Their mothers are distant cousins. Any famous Greek or even just some Greek sports player, she had a connection to ALL OF THEM. You cannot Stump the Greek. Ive tried.
