Marvel Studio News has reported that Facebook has banned a group that attempted to sabotage the fan review scores of Star Wars: The Last Jedi and also promised to do the same thing to Marvels upcoming Black Panther.
The groups Facebook page was named Down With Disneys Treatment of Franchises and its Fanboys, and it had created an event to post low review scores on the fan review section of the Rotten Tomatoes website. The exact motivations of the group arent completely clear, though some trends and theories have cropped up during the course of its actions.
According to a screenshot posted by Marvel Studio News, the group has now been banned by Facebook. Rotten Tomatoes has also gotten involved, stating that it would be monitoring the reviews of Black Panther and that it was fine with people not enjoying a movie, but would not tolerate hate speech on its platform.
We at Rotten Tomatoes are proud to have become a platform for passionate fans to debate and discuss entertainment and we take that responsibility seriously, a Rotten Tomatoes representative told The Wrap. While we respect our fans diverse opinions, we do not condone hate speech. Our team of security, network and social experts continue to closely monitor our platforms and any users who engage in such activities will be blocked from our site and their comments removed as quickly as possible.
As for the group itself, The Verge describes it as a pro-DC fan organization that is opposed to Marvel and Star Wars. The group helped review bomb The Last Jedi because they did not like the fact that it featured a female main character. The group also claims that the poor reviews of Warner Bros. DC films are due to Disneys manipulation of film critics, though there is no evidence to support those claims.
This groups efforts aside, the early impressions of Black Panther appear to be largely positive with critics hailing it as one of the best Marvel movies to come out in some time. Moviegoers can decide for themselves when Black Panther arrives in movie theaters on February 16.
Ive got a better idea.
Screw Hollywood
Are there any fakebook groups dedicated to DUmping on online polls about Trump’s ratings or to savage the amazon reviews of books by conservatives?
FaceBook’s current motto is;
If you can’t say something (we consider) good,
We won’t let you say anything at all.
And does “hate speech” mean bad reviews? We’ve slid down the slippery slope to where it means whatever one wants it to.
A Trove of Trolls?
TRUTH is the new HATE SPEECH.
I could suspend belief that a genius could build an Iron Man suit
I could even suspend belief with Hawkeye. Suspending belief with Captain America, and even Thor.
But an African country rich in rare elements being able to produce a normal nation; let alone an advanced one - no, cant do it. Africa is the most mineral and rare earth element rich continent on the planet. Copper, opals, Cobalt and diamonds. Oil, coal and iron.
And every nation on that continent is a shit hole. Black Panther is nothing more than pandering to a group of people who have accomplished nothing, never have and likely never will.
You will be made to see this movie and YOU WILL LIKE IT.
But ‘they were Kangs!’
The premise is that the income from sales of vibranium enabled the country to send their smartest to the best schools, whereupon they returned to create super-advanced technology. In order to accomplish this, they would need to have a population with more than its share of genius-class people.
You can send as many people as you want to study science and engineering at MIT and Stanford, but if they don't have IQs above 130, they will just quickly flunk out.
As usual this article gets it backward, at least with regard to the new Star Wars movie. It was the positive reviews that were the fake ones. I’m 100% certain that whenever the average neared 50% positive, Disney poured in 100s of fake positive 5-star reviews to offset the real negative ones so it would stay above 50% fan rating. The negative reviews are lengthy and descriptive of the flaws, while the positive ones are usually one line “A must see movie!”
It is important to recognize that these production companies control the dialogue so-to-speak about the hype of their movie and rigorously protect it.
You missed the memo that everything everywhere is the fault of Whites.
Alternatively, many “best and brightest” leave their third world nations behind once they obtain an advanced degree in the West. More money to be made here and they’ve become accustomed to things here (freedoms, protections, culture, and wealth).
50 years ago, they called it “The Brain Drain”.
The Black Panther comic book was around when I was a kid. It’s not new.
It was pandering then.
Now its pandering on steroids.
