Do you have any links regarding “another one mile rock hit which ended the Younger Dryas?” If the 62 mile body was mostly ice which fragmented in the upper atmosphere it could have caused the results suggested, and large chunks coming in at an angle cause the Carolina Bays. Another idea I had was that the CB’s were caused when the Canadian ice sheet was hit by a very large solid chunk and huge pieces of ice sheet were sent flying to Carolina. Their eliptical shapes point toward the north as indicated in the Firestone et al. book, supporting the direction of origin.
You last point: “... that the CBs were caused when the Canadian ice sheet was hit by a very large solid chunk and huge pieces of ice sheet were sent flying to Carolina ...”
Look for this title: Carolina Bays - Evaluation of an impact hypothesis. There are several papers on this subject - that is just one I found quickly.
And from one of our own (baynut) at #61: https://cosmictusk.com/9483-2/
George A. Howard, Comet Research Group
As for the first point there are numerous sources with the corresponding documentation. One more complete sets of references to different ideas is found in Graham Hancock’s “Magicians of the Gods”. George might have more (I have not been there yet this AM), as he says in the paper (the posted article) he co-authored, it was reported incorrectly. The body that hit was part of the 100km comet, not the whole of it.
The Hancock book is primarily about what such an impact had on any existing human civilization. As you might be aware, the further back in time we trace our past, the murkier thing get, until we get to the Romans - here, while much is known, there is quite a lot about things which were central to them that we know almost nothing about - divination, oracles and so forth. Then there are the Chinese ...
Going further back, to the Old Kingdom Egyptians we have to learn to ignore logical thinking and think symbolically in order to get a glimpse of how they saw themselves and their world.
Going back even further is just near conjecture and guess work. And we are still thousands of years after the comet strike. When we get to the recently found site of Gobekli Tepe, the whole of human history known the year before had to be changed because this site dates from the time of the strike ... the oldest human civilization ever found. Which begs the question: where did they and their civilization originate?
Carolina In My Mind
James Taylor
In my mind I’m gone to Carolina
Can’t you see the sunshine?
Can’t you just feel the moonshine?
Ain’t it just like a friend of mine
To hit me from behind?
Yes, I’m gone to Carolina in my mind
Karin, she’s a silver sun
You best walk her way and watch it shine
And watch her watch the morning come
A silver tear appearing now
I’m cryin’, ain’t I?
Gone to Carolina in my mind
There ain’t no doubt in no ones mind
That love’s the finest thing around
Whisper something soft and kind
And hey babe, the sky’s on fire
I’m dying, ain’t I?
Gone to Carolina in my mind
In my mind I’m gone to Carolina
Can’t you see the sunshine?
Can’t you just feel the moonshine?
And, ain’t it just like a friend of mine
To hit me from behind?
Yes, I’m gone to Carolina in my mind
Dark and silent, late last night,
I think I might have heard the highway call
And geese in flight and dogs that bite
The signs that might be omens say
I’m goin’, I’m goin’
I’m gone to Carolina in my mind
With a holy host of others standin’ around me
Still I’m on the dark side of the moon
And it seems like it goes on like this forever
You must forgive me, if I’m up and gone to
Carolina in my mind
In my mind I’m goin’ to Carolina
Can’t you see the sunshine?
Can’t you just feel the moonshine?
Ain’t is just like a friend of mine
To hit me from behind
Yes, I’m gone to Carolina in my mind
Gone to Carolina in my mind
And I’m goin’ to Carolina in my mind
Goin’ to Carolina in my mind
Gone, I’m gone, I’m gone
Say nice things about me ‘cause I’m gone south now
Got to carry on without me, I’m gone

I think that's the general idea with this 62 mile wide body -- that because it is made of ice, it reaches its Roche point, shattering, and arriving more like a shotgun blast. That has almost nothing to do with the overall impact energy though. It could result in more atmospheric heating. What I'm getting at is, the size is way way off.
The idea in the book works best -- the Bays are more eliptical, indicating that they were formed by ejecta from a distant impact crater (in ice or what have you); and the authors point out the existence of the similar formations elsewhere in the circumference.
