For those who are interested in the BitCoin phenomenon, it has been dropping considerably tonight.

It has been as low as 8314, but is now rebounding in the mid 8400 range.

I have provided a link to the ticker.

There were a lot of people that made a fortune off the tulip craze, the dotcom bubble and the housing bubble. Not sure what your point is.

Just curious....does the Social Security check come from a truck carrying cash?

More than 95% of transactions are digital now. They are nothing but little electrons hitting the screen you are looking at.

I have a friend who's basement tulip-coin farm in his basement heats his house in the winter. He's made enough to cover all coats and fund his retirement recognizing the need to take cash off the table and plans to sell the computer equipment when the bottom falls out. H
Will have to see if he's got good deals on computers now.

Pure speculation. It is not currency.

It’s getting very near to 8000. Broke below the previous low...

Though it is back up near 8100 now.

“Pure speculation. It is not currency.”

It’s more like a commodity. However, it’s also much like the US dollar - backed by nothing material. It has advantages and disadvantages versus the dollar.

“It’s getting very near to 8000. Broke below the previous low...”

It just broke below 8000. Not very surprising really, since India just effectively outlawed it.

Pure speculation. It is not currency.

Yup, one of the key definitions of a currency is a stable value of wealth. Bitcoin is anything but stable.

It’s still pretty impressive that something worthless is trading for 8000

But then again, there isn’t anyone of us that knows if we could actually cash one in for that amount. That was just supposedly what the last sucker bought one for.
