Tuesday on ESPN Radios Golic and Wingo, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell praised his leagues players for the social issues they addressed, saying he and ownership are proud of their work.

He is engaging in coprophagia to cater to the fan base. But as the fan base shrinks he will have to cater to a smaller base..and the outliers will desert..and so on and so forth..until a better football product takes its place...in my mind the nfl is not worth my time or dime anymore.
Typical game description:
Dink and dunk..4 yd run...pass interference..repeat until TD and stupid dance. Repeat with other team.
4 minutes of commercials.
Repeat
I am proud of individuals and companies social activism, when it provides a clear benefit to those in need.
Examples would be:
Donating to a food bank.
Starting homeless shelters and rehab facilities.
Helping the elderly cope with loneliness, immobility and medication.
Donating to children’s hospitals.
Helping veterans with PTSD.
and probably 1000 other genuinely altruistic organizations.
Virtue signaling ‘game players’ spouting platitudes based on lies get zero respect.
He thinks it's 1964...forever. What an idiot.
I lost any respect for Villanueva after that incident. Have you noticed that USAA no longer runs the ad where he and his family are featured? Didn’t think they had it in them...
Goodell would not be “proud” if the players were kneeling to protest illegal immigration, abortion, or gay marriage.

Me too. And given his distinguished Army service, I was surprised that he caved in so very fast. What’s certain is that someone got to him.
Perhaps Steelers coach Tomlin told Villanueva to support the team, or be benched. Perhaps other players threatened to injure him during practice, or a during game.
Regardless, Villanueva took the easy way out. And this incident actually was the one that decided it for me. No more NFL on my TV set.
I, too, am for social justice and economic justice, and that’s why I think the salaries of Goodell and NFL players are obscenely high.
“Perhaps Steelers coach Tomlin told Villanueva to support the team, or be benched.”
This is my conclusion. “Rooney Rule”....ptoooey!
This guy is really stupid. Now he’s trying to make the sale that everyone tunes in, buys the overpriced tickets and buys the overpriced sanctioned merchandise in order to receive a “social justice” (by whose definition????) lesson, NOT to be entertained. If that’s what NFL former fans really wanted, I’m sure there’s a Youtube channel run by someone living in their bathrobe in Mom’s basement for them to tune into.
