Former Mississippi Republican governor Haley Barbour was arrested last week for trying to bring a loaded gun through the airport in Jackson, Mississippi.

The Hattiesburg Patriot broke the story Tuesday, confirming that Barbour was caught by airport police but still boarded his flight after he posted bond for his crime.

The former governor was arrested by airport police, posted bond, and was able to catch his flight.

The rest of us would get five years in prison.

Did you notice the part where he made bail and was able to catch his flight? I’m sure if he were a peasant he would sit in jail for awhile at least.

357 is the size of a .38 cal. bullet no matter if it is a .38 Special, .38 Colt, or .357 Mag round.

Thank you.

He should be locked up for being part of the Bush League Republicans who have been blocking US from stopping the illegal alien inundation.

.357 is longer, won’t fit a .38 chamber.
.38 will fit a .357, not the other way around.

I never did learn what it was called a .357 instead of saying it’s a .38 magnum which would make a lot more sense.

It just sounds meaner. What is really confusing is the .357 .38 caliber bullet was developed from the larger .375 sized .36 caliber muzzle loading cap and ball round. When the first .38 cal cartridges were made in the early 1870s, they were used in cap and ball black powder pistols that were converted to cartridge but still had the cap and ball .375 barrel. The original cartridges had an outside lubed bullet as large as the cartridge case to fit the .375 barrel (similar to a modern .22).

Later, lubed bullets made in .357 were introduced to fit inside the cartridge case and new cartridge revolvers were made with .357 barrels to fit the cartridge.

Chief of the MS political mob takes loaded gun through airport security and boards his flight. Hillary reads about Fire and Fury on national broadcast. The Swamp has been stirred.

Just talking about bullet size, not cartridge size. Most savvy gun owners know never to put a .357 mag round into a .38 Special revolver.

Can happen to the best of us.

I was going through the luggage screener and got flagged to the side.

In my carryon, they found a 6” Case Trapper knife my late father had given me in a pocket. The bag probably has 20 pockets in it. I had used it the week before on my son’s Scout outing and I just missed that pocket when I cleaned it out after.

Rather than arrest me, the TSA guy simply said, “we can keep it or you can take it back to your car.” Then said, “or, just take it to the airport police lost and found!” When I said I didn’t have the time to go all the way back.

I’ve cut the TSA some slack ever since.

Correct, I was merely responding to your comment...

“If you’re going to carry it, at least fill it up with .357 “bullets”.

No one has a permit to carry aboard a commercial flight except LEs assigned to do so.

Only for an old single action Colt. All revolvers now have a bar that keeps the hammer from falling on the shell except when actually pulling the trigger. You’d better study up on today’s revolvers.

I always load mine up. The little Ruger SP and the S & W 640 have pretty stout triggers on ‘em.

That’s why I like carrying a revolver. Goes bang when I want and doesn’t if I don’t.

Fregards.

I used “bullets” because that was how the idiot reporter put it: “.38 caliber revolver loaded with five bullets”

I didn't say that, Fightin Whitey did in post #9. I was commenting on what he said.

I know that, I just happen to own a number of pre 1898 single action revolvers (not just Colts) that I shoot that don't have a modern hammer block.

Actually it works like this:

Drop a .357 into a .38 and you may very well lose a hand.

You can drop a .38 into a .357 no problem...
