When they called his work a "snuff film," Mel said that what actually happened was much worse than what he showed.

Our Lord was on the Cross for more than the length of the entire film, more like from 9 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon.

That is like watching 3 full-length (2 hour) Hollywood movies.

In order to take just one breath, Jesus had to push himself up, standing upon the spikes nailed through his ankles.

There is no way Mel could show ALL the detail.

Violence is all about context. I love bloody action films. "Passion of the Christ" is hands-down one of the most violent films I've ever seen.
