What Does It Mean to Die? When Jahi McMath was declared brain-dead by the hospital, her family disagreed. Her case challenges the very nature of existence. (New Yorker is not allowed to be posted)
The whole promise of big government and socialized medicine is that it’s some kind of panacea for the poor. You think it’s right to lie to them about this?
ACA has been pushed as some kind of salvation for the poor. Why do you think the reality should be hidden from the public?
She is in fact decomposing. Just not the visible way that you would like to believe.

For those of you from Rio Linda, necrotic means dead tissue. Necrotic brain tissue is essentially absorbed by the body if that body is kept artificially alive. In brain death, the ENTIRE brain (including the brain stem) becomes necrotic and is subsequently absorbed.
This living corpse is NOT EVER coming back to life. Shes been dead since December 12 despite the fact that her bodily shell has been kept viable. It will become more and more expensive to keep this shell alive as time goes on and the shell will eventually (several months?) ...

How many months has it been now, House Atreides

Intellectual Poverty
Raised income levels qualify
more and more as povertized--
We drop the expectations
for their public education
so they become less able
to keep food on the table--
Thereby their income stays, you see,
within the realm of poverty.
A few may still climb out, so then
the limits must be raised again
and schools told to ask less of them
who can't eat self-esteem.
Socialism and big government are able to survive because they lie to people. I welcome every chance where the truth is out.
Brain death is not a coma—the brain is literally dead and decomposing. By now, what remains inside the skull probably has little resemblance to a brain. When the brain died, everything that was Jahi died. What is on the ventilator *is* a corpse. All that has been achieved by keeping the body ventilated is that the decay process has been slowed down—not stopped, but slowed. Death is not reversible.

Still say
Jahi McMath is a corpse and decomposing, exDemMom?
But for people I know a layer above that ACA has totally screwed up their healthcare.
I’m not sure what you are arguing anymore, ifinnegan. But that’s okay. I suppose none of us really are there and know what’s going on. It’s an unfortunate situation.
My job before I retired was teaching jr. high students. There were kids who broke my heart. They had some smarts, pleasant personalities, but (as I put it) the swamp was already wrapped around their ankles and pulling them back down. As they got older, the pull of the swamp got stronger. A few, but too few, managed to escape, but most succumbed. And a dozen years later, I was teaching their kids.
The pressure to lower expectations for them was (and still is) pretty strong. And as you say, they can’t eat (or live off) self esteem.
LOL .... Have you taken her out to Dennys to celebrate yet? Maybe you know some young man you can fix her up with? She probably wont give him much back talk or harangue him ... the perfect mate.
On the other hand... she;s brain dead, Jim.
She had sleep apnea, so was at high risk of having an obstructed airway after a tonsillectomy (where bleeding or edema in the area of the removed tonsils could have closed her airway. I know of at least one kid who died after a tonsillectomy: we rarely do this surgery any more unless the tonsils are very large and infected, so it's not like the low risk tonsillectomies of the past when lots of kids had them done.
I suspect that the reason for the rush to remove her life support was because if she lived, the malpractice suit would have been higher.
As for prejudice in health care: Alas, it is true. It is also true for poor whites in rural areas, an against Native Americans. part of it is cultural (poor people don't take their meds, they admit to drinking and smoking, and sometimes don't understand what you are trying to tell them, which makes communication difficult). But it is also prejudice.. and a lot of foreign doctors come from countries that look down on blacks.

Four years.
According to discussion of four years ago her brain was liquid she was decomposing, her skin was turning hard and black. Etc...
None of that has happened.
I’m giving you a chance to apologize to the form for overtly and deliberately lying four years ago.
I am giving people a chance to apologize to the forum for their lies and distortions of four years ago.
She was called a corpse, that her brain was liquid, that she was decomposing, decaying, that it was only a matter or days or months that her body would be completely non-functional and decomposing, with hard black skin etc etc
Yep, absolutely.
It looks like the family is trying to get more GoFundMe donations. Probably because very few were still donating to them after all this time.
Can’t even find it in your soul to admit your earlier pronouncements were premature and wrong?
Nothing you said would happen to “the corpse” has happened.
And it’s been four years.
