Steve Wozniak: ‘I Don’t Believe Anything Elon Musk or Tesla Says’

It’s no shocker that Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is wary of Elon Musk and Tesla — he once said there is “way too much hype” around the company.

At a conference in Sweden last week, Wozniak, who owns two Model S vehicles, doubled down on his Tesla criticism — while still leaving an opening for future optimism.

“Now, I don’t believe anything Elon Musk or Tesla says,” Wozniak said. “But I still love the car.”

In his talk about Tesla, Wozniak recounted one incident at Lake Tahoe, where his Tesla skidded off an icy road and fell into a snow bank, according to Business Insider, which reported on the Q&A with Wozniak. Despite the accident, Wozniak said he maintained his trust for Tesla, upgrading his model when Tesla introduced the feature that allows Tesla owners to “summon” their self-driving vehicles.

Tesla makes an absolutely fantastic vehicle

You mean “fantastic” as in “unreal”?

They’re awesome vehicles, the design, the performance, the fit and finish. As well they should be, at the price they’re asking for them.

My ram in 4WD goes through…just about whatever. Electric is fine and may be the wave of the future. I like being able to go 400 miles. Refill in 5 minutes and keep on trucking.

Teslas are pretty cool, but so is everything in the same price range.

You’re kidding right? Woz is the one who actually designed and built the Apple I, Jobs was the hype man.

Well he did work for Jobs, so he knows a BS’er when he sees one.

Woz noticed the emperor is not wearing clothes.

That’s my thing too, range and quick refuel, though even if electrics matched that you just can’t beat the smell of a good hydrocarbon burner.

When is Musk going to start paying back all that subsidized money? Billions given to him to make a handful of cars and play rocket boy!

Steve Jobs would have been a good at selling anything, including widgets.

Woz is the genius technical guy.

Woz did the hardware design and manufacture. He was hardly a “tag along”.

Too much hype, ditto.

“Wiz was a tag along in the creation of Apple. Calling him cofounder though is technically correct.”

Wozniak was the hardware guy and the original Apple I & II computers were largely his concepts.

Oh please. I personally know their first [originally unpaid] employee. Jobs was not an amazing designer, which came along later, but he would have been nowhere without Woz to start with.

Blizzak’s are CRAP!

55% snow tread, 45% all season rubber.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta’s are the way to go..

R2 for studless, 8’s or the new 9’s with studs.

We have 8’s on our vehicles.

They’re awesome vehicles, the design, the performance,...

I'll take your word for it.

They might be fine for city driving and short hops but I leave in the country and rely upon my vehicle to get me though some terrible weather conditions and need a reliable truck to get me where I need to go.

It seems truck owners are really drawn to commenting negatively upon a vehicle that does not fit their needs and that they would never own. I can’t say I understand it. I’ve owned trucks myself and they’re very competent vehicles when put to the uses for which they were designed. A Tesla is also a very competent vehicle when put to the use for which it was designed.
