A creepy life-like robot called Erica is set to become a TV news anchor in Japan. The humanoid. which has one of the most advanced artificial speech systems in the world, will take up her new role in April. According to her creator Hiroshi Ishiguro, the droid is warm and caring, and may soon have an 'independent consciousness'.

I hear Harvey Weinstein invited Erica to (cough) “audition” for a part in his new movie....”Hard But Not Out.”
ROTFLOL.
Many AI programs have become Nazis.
Pffft! Her arms dont even work!?
How the hell are you gonna be able to teach it to MAKE ME A SAMMICH if its arms dont even work? EPIC FAIL JAPAN ! !
It’s all simulated, folks! IT (not she) is not warm and cuddly. It does not have an independent consciousness, and never will. It’s a bloody computer program! It simulates those things and stupid humans accept the simulation as real.
I saw a big dog doll the other day. Real cute looking. I know it would not be a substitute for a dog. It simulates cuddliness and cuteness. It’s a bunch of cloth and plastic!
I wonder if the beta version was called “Hillary”.
I watched the video.
In this video I’m convinced that Japanese people can no longer tell real people from machines. Because if this machine looks like a real person, it’s a real person pantomiming a robot.
and the author of the article... My god, did they graduate the 7th grade ?
just don’t put her behind the wheel.....
Must have modeled it after his mother or something.
I REALLY LIKE THE IDEA!
No more ‘CELEBUTARDS’ as news readers, i.e. Rather, etc...............
It doesn’t bleed.....................
Well, that's why I was scrolling down this thread ... to find out if it was anatomically correct and how much it cost. Gotta be cheaper than the Ex taking half of everything ....
So, it is a liberal then.
All about appearance, regurgitates canned lines, blank eyes, unable to process many questions...yeah...but the emotion-driven speech needs more development.
Once they can come close to matching the naughty bits, those things will sell like hotcakes.
Biased article... How is she more creepy than the turds that we have on the main stream media!?!
EDIT TO ADD — is “her” the right pronoun?
“She” looks about as lifelike as a mannequin in a department store window.
