There are at least 125 million prime time viewers (2014 stats) in the day and time slot of the Grammy’s award show. The approximate 20 million Grammy viewers represented a small 16% minority of the possible viewing audience.
The trick that has been performed by the TV media and those who report on it, is in the splintered and segmented television viewing world any “most watched” show is actually almost always a show that the majority of viewers are not watching - they are all watching something else. Yet the pretense of the “popularity” of any show is sustained by the media.
While MOST, more than 83% of the prime time viewing audience did NOT watch the Grammys when it was telecast it was reported on and hyped as the most important television event of the night. While actually the most important television event of the night was that 83+% of the possible Grammy viewing audience never watched it.
Bruno Mars is very talented.
You would sure need a lot of politically motivated moonbattery to drive viewers away (which apparently they had no problem finding).
