Rickey Chapman, 34, was struck and killed by an unknown driver on Friday night along North Sierra Highway in Rosamond, his mother, Rive Chapman said Sunday.
She said her son was also struck about a week before in another hit-and-run crash on the same road. His family had been relieved when they found out he was OK after the first crash, though his bicycle was destroyed. He was walking on a shoulder of the highway at night when he was struck in the second crash, his family said.
Rive Chapman described her son as "good-hearted" and a "hard worker." She said he had just joined the Los Angeles chapter of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and was trying to get his life back on track after previously being homeless.

Had he known Hillary long?
Poor soul. From being homeless to having some hope. And now killed by a hit and run scumbag.
drivers kill 40,000 Americans every year.
Here in California, a vast majority of solved hit and runs are by illegal aliens.
I'm thinking it's the pedestrian's fault. Who gets hit by a car and doesn't take extra precautions the next week.
Still, the driver should have stopped and offered help or called 911 if he was still alive.
I don’t think that the poor guy was the sharpest knife in the drawer.
.
RIP.
Why no screeching of the libtards about banning high capacity automobiles?
Rosamond, with a population of 16,000 people has over 27 pot dispensaries.
Whether it was the pedestrian or the drivers smokin’ weed, legalized pot is a disaster for this small desert town.
I too suspect an illegal alien. Equally likely, a drunk. Or both. Left the scene to avoid the police.
It’s also a half hour drive from Edwards.
How many bars and liquor stores?
20k drunk driving deaths a year.
Agree, but even dumb people should be safe from drunk Mexicans.
Because how would Pelosi get around ?
My brother was killed by a 19 yr old hispanic who was drunk and on drugs back in 2001 in California. I've often wondered if the kid was an illegal......
Some of the Base workers live there, but most live farther away in an attempt to have a nice place to come home to. But the demographics are changing fast. Just go into the DMV or Walmart to see what the Antelope Valley has become.
Which is more likely? Guy hit twice in two separate random accidents within a week, or someone who wanted to kill him failed the first time, and succeeded the second.
I’d say the probabilities would be close enough it would be interesting to know who might have had it in for him.
