It looks like a pretty good lineup tonight, a lot of my favorites. I haven't quite figured out how Horwitz will try to mess it up tonight with his liberal guilt shaming and apologetics.

He is so clueless that he doesn't realize people tune in to escape that crap.

I just finished listening to a bunch of "Broadway is My Beat" epis.

They're pretty bad, imo. Never recaps what happened, that's not to mention that he (Danny Clover) rarely id's himself as a detective, let alone a cop. He rarely takes backup, constantly leaving himself open to head trauma, etc.

Agreed, Broadway is My Beat is b level. The plots can be interesting at times IMO.

Aside from a slight bout of edema, I’m fine. The wife got held up at gunpoint at work Friday, but she seems to be handling it OK.

A, *AHEM* gentleman of the correctly-presumed ethnic persuasion had apparently been casing the store Friday morning (the manager of an adjacent store had noticed him sitting outside for a good 45 minutes). He came in and meandered around until the one customer in her store left. She was in back, about to take a knife to the plastic around a large pallet of cases of motor oil that had arrived by truck when she saw the perp walking around in back. That, in itself, isn't unusual, because the men's and women's bathrooms are side by side, and her office is at the end of the row, so she figured it was just another customer looking for the latrine. When she called out to him, he spun around, pointed a silver semi-auto at her, and yelled "Get on your f*****g knees and put your hands on the floor!" She complied, and took her minion into her office with the gun to his temple. When she tried to put the pallet of oil between her and him, he pointed the gun back at her again and told her to hug the floor. She didn't even know he was in the store, and she said it was over in less than five minutes. As soon as he ran out the door, she ran out the back of the store and around the corner to see if she could see what he was driving, but this shining light of human intellect was on foot and ran across four lanes of traffic without even looking. (She said the one thing she hoped for was him to go over the hood of a car doing 50 MPH.) When she came back in, her minion had already dialed 911, and within two minutes, the place was literally overwhelmed by city and county police. Another few minutes went by, and there was a police chopper overhead, flying low. The cops had them view a portion of surveillance tape from another retailer who had gotten robbed the week before, and they made a positive ID. Then they had them independently scan a series of mug shots, and they picked him out. Her minion went to the station and swore out a warrant for his arrest, and they nabbed him at gunpoint later that day. (Apparently, he was one of the local favorites.) He's currently awaiting arraignment on two felony armed robbery charges, second degree assault with a firearm, and who knows how many other lesser charges. Thing is, she said that all he got was the petty cash bag from the floor safe - a little less than $400 - and it's dark down there, the big bag with the bank deposit is black and was tucked to the side, so he completely missed it.

Thankfully, she's OK. She was a little shaken when she got home, but she's back to normal (for her, anyway *chuckle*). And the admirable example of human evolution who is responsible probably won't get out of the pen until we're both on the wrong side of the grass.
