17-foot-long python ...
The snake was displayed by the Chicago Herpetological Society as part of an exhibit for the Chauncey's Great Outdoors radio program, said Ellen Hopkins, spokeswoman for the show.
A handler was removing the snake from a container at the time the girl was petting it, she said.
The Daily Herald is one of the sponsors of the show.

We bought our mice from the pet store on a feeding schedule. It was interesting.

We usually got frozen mice, but sometimes DP would get Susan a live one.

I couldn’t have one here. Our dogs would make short work of it.

Our greyhound didn’t notice the snake. Now we’re racked up with bearded dragons. They’re low-maintenance, but their cages take up a lot of room.

We had a lizard in a crate. It ate dog food. I didn’t care for it at all.

    Iguana?
Dragons eat peas, kale, parsley, dandelion greens, that sort of thing.

I don’t know what it was. My roomate’s boy friend gave it to her to take care of. It had huge teeth and was about a foot long. Scary.

Probably an iguana. A friend from Mexico thought our dragons were iguanas.

You have to wonder who originally thought a Nile monitor would be a good pet. Or an alligator.
The son of friends of my parents kept a Komodo dragon in a townhouse. Not popular with his landlord ...

So do dragons. Our Charlie Russell is missing most of his tail, due to an episode several owners ago.

    Hey!
You found some of my photos!
Dad called me Sparky after that.
I lost that nickname when I drove Uncle Arts Comet out the back of our garage.
He called me Crash after that.
