Thursday on ESPNs Pardon the Interruption, co-host Michael Wilbon weighed in on the XFLs comeback in 2020, calling Vince McMahons upcoming league a whitewashed, idealistic brand of football because it will require players to stand for the National Anthem and will not allow athletes with criminal records to play.

Sounds good.
Sounds great, let’s play!
I think it would work out financially if he follows the baseball model. Get an NFL affiliation with each team and allow the top high school players to sign a contract with an NFL team and develop them through the affiliated XFL team. If they try to create a league with just NFL cast-offs I don’t see it being successful. Unfortunately, I don’t think the NFL wants to give up on the current situation where they get a taxpayer funded minor league system.
I don’t think he wants any affiliation with an NFL team. Why would he? He wants to compete with them! (Also why would the NFL agree?) I hope he just does a farm team- XFL team relationship and also signs former college players. I also wish he could drop the “X” and find a way to affiliate the brand name with the USA. “AFL” & “USFL” brands are probably owned by the NFL, maybe North American Football League - NAFL.
The long knives are already out. This football fan is waiting for the new league, I will watch.
So what’s new?
Hmmm...What is the name of that comedian who used to smash watermelons for fun?

Of course they’re going to say that, ABC owns the ESPN plantation. I don’t know how the XFL is going to go. They were tilting at windmills 15 years ago but I think they have a legitimate shot now. The NFL is packed with liberal idiots in the front office and crashing, Vince McMahon is making a good move taking another shot at it.
