As a child of the 60's I encourage you and your daughter to first focus on the guitar techniques of Hendrix...and then move on to Clapton and Page.

Then move on to Harrison (and Lennon).

McCartney is a better guitarist than Harrison or Lennon. That's him soloing on Taxman, also compare the solos on "The End", Paul's smokes George's.

Then move on to stevie ray vaughan. Which is where I tried to get to before I gave up the guitar for good.
