LONDON (AFP) - Bankrupt former tennis star Boris Becker on Wednesday (Jan 24) appealed for help in tracking down five missing Grand Slam trophies which he needs to sell to help pay off his debts.
The German shook up the tennis world at Wimbledon in 1985 when, as an unseeded player, he became the then youngest-ever male Grand Slam champion at the age of 17, defending the trophy the following year.
I guess he lost all his net income heh
And don't forget your purple heart you threw away, can I call you John Kerry?
Blow
Not having much of a clue how to manage money, being over-extended, trusting the wrong people, substance abuse. The usual story among aged out professional athletes, rappers on the decline and lottery winners.
They might be in his mother’s basement.
He invested a huge amount of money in Nigerian oil companies.
“I guess he lost all his net income”
Ha!!!
Becker is a classic case of a not-so-bright guy who made a fortune at a very young age and then spent the last 25 years blowing it. Expensive divorces, incredibly stupid business ventures. He’s the German version of what happens to US basketball and football players all the time.
The guy made millions PLAYING A GAME.

Lord, please, help me to be a better steward with your blessings.
You’ll have to clear it with my manservant, Dingus Kahn, first. Well, it’s off to Davos, Cheerio!
I'm sure Boris can always get a job teaching tennis. He may need to adjust his lifestyle.
And he got nailed for it — turned out he’d been living in Germany the whole time. He appealed that one I think, and he plans to appeal his bankruptcy, he says he has the money, plenty of income — but he offers no explanation for why he doesn’t pay his bills.
“How do you blow through $25 million in a few years?”
Same as other athletes and celebrities in financial trouble. By not putting it in the bank and being content with about a half a million a year in interest payments.
Did John “Kept Man” Kerry ever get his purple hearts back?
always a smug jerk.
Heck with ya there Boris
Boris coached Novak Djokovic very successfully for three or four years, which were Novaks best years, like six Gand slams or so and I cant imagine Becker wasnt well compensated. When they split Novak started his decline.
As I recall he never threw them away. He threw someone else’s medals over the fence.
I’ve heard the same about McEnroe from a friend who used to to work for him; very kind, generous and genuine guy off the court.
