It’s not really being ‘bitten’... but rather ‘toed’ X 100. Or however many they land on you. We have them in Centex, more colorful, which cause hallucinations and permanent scars for each ‘toebite’.

I was camping with my Daughter near Oolagah, Okla. when a centipede came strolling by.
It was just about a foot long. I killed it with Raid spray. I later looked it up and he was just about world record size. Each segment was about the size of a quarter.

We do not have GD snakes, but plenty of these damn centipedes. Bastards show up all over, and get into the House sometimes. Terminix spraying around the house perimeter seems to keep them out.
Cats have learned to kill them by repeatedly crashing down on them with front paws. Find a dead centipede with all the legs broken off.
