The article clarifies that the Georgetown part of Australia was once joined with what is now Canada, so I’m sure Canadian headlines read “1.7-Billion-Year-Old Chunk of Canada Found Sticking to Australia”.

Did the eukaryotes living on the part that drifted away from Canada call themselves “separatists”?
