Sure, it’s beautiful near the resort, but take a look at the photos of the border between DR and Haiti....DR is green and Haiti is brown and barren. That’s because it has been stripped for firewood because its government has stolen the money (billions of dollars in US and European aid) and leaves no other way for people to get fuel and doesn’t provide an environment where businesses want to set up and employ people so they can buy better fuel.
And of course, the big reason for Haiti’s devastating mudslides is ... deforestation. Something the enviro-wacko crowd seems to conveniently ignore.
I’m sure there are some nice areas in Haiti for the tourists.
