O’Brien made the trip to Haiti in response to allegations that President Trump had called Haiti a “shithole,” prompting a slew of rich celebrities, including O’Brien, to attempt to prove otherwise.

Of course they did. Him, and his production crew, and his security. Who ever produces his show (TBS I think) also notified the security at the embassy that he would be there and extra precautions needed to be taken. His security probably got there first to check the airport and the route to the hotel.

I will say this...there are protected compounds with five-star hotels in Haiti.

I’ve been to the Dominican Republic several times, and I loved it. Granted, there are parts of the DR you wouldn’t want to find yourself, but compared to Haiti it looks like upscale Manhattan.

People go to the Sandals resort, and think they’ve seen Cuba.

Not the ones I know who have been there.

A friend of mine was there in December but since he's a classic car fanatic, he went there solely to see all the 1950's autos. He had nothing but respect for people who owned them and their ability to keep them running with no "Auto Zone" stores in which to buy parts........LOL!

He jokingly said that if the communist regime is thrown out, the first real wave of tourists won't be there for the beaches but rather the classic car fanatics trying to get their hands on any of those old cars..........

As a side note, he had a guide who had exclusive knowledge of life in Cuba and while he knew what to expect, she revealed exactly what the Cuban population had to deal with and it was worse than what he knew.

One example, due to the limited housing, in order to own a house, you had to apply to the govt. and go on a waiting list.

The reason for so many two storied houses is that if you married a Cuban girl, you moved into her parents house and lived with them until you either got approval from the govt to buy an available house or the girl's parents built an upstairs above their own house.
