If it is what happened, Roberts would have to step down for throwing a vote, and Trump gets to name a new Chief Justice.

At the least, but the political implications are profound.

Remember + consider - in his role as Chief Justice, Roberts is responsible for the FISC and all FISA applications. Contreas was recused by the Court. Before that he placed 4 Obama + Clinton appointed judges on the Court. In the April 2017 filing by FISC, the NSA review found 85% of Obama era "about" queries in 2015-2016 were not legal. The Chief has some 'splainin' to do!

That's when we get to test the meme that some people are "too big to jail."

That will go to whomever is found to have extorted the threats. We will hear offers of "haven't they suffered enough" (by being voted out of power), no intent to break the law, it was the only time, household arrest, or simply fleeing into exile in another country.

The media will pass it off as "everybody does it" opposition research.
