Professor Susan Sawyer, director of the center for adolescent health at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, calls the dynamic “semi-dependency.”

"Although many adult legal privileges start at age 18, the adoption of adult roles and responsibilities generally occurs later," she said.

...

"The ages of 10-24 years are a better fit with the development of adolescents nowadays,” she said.

Why should I recognize this state apparatchik as a "scientist"?

My Lib sister was so happy the Obama Admin raised the children eligible to be on their parent’s healthcare to 26. I told her that people at 26 needed to have their own jobs and healthcare. Her son is now 29 and still doesn’t have a regular job or healthcare. Why don’t Libs understand that infantilizing their children, to higher and higher ages, doesn’t bode well for their future employment opportunities? Or maybe they just figure that all those hard working Americans will continue to support them Ad Infinitum???

The 24 age is spot on. I noticed in in my son and daughter born in the early 90’s. But I disagree with 10 being the mental aspect and start of a boy entering adolescence. I believe it’s 14 for boys, perhaps 12 for girls but definitely 13-14 for boys and I’m not specifically considering puberty. Just an adolescent mindset.

Better yet. Only those who pay taxes should vote. Those who get freebies obviously will vote for the candidates who promise them more freebies…Democrats.

Been saying these things for years.

I say it in regards to age of consent. It simply takes kids more time to develop than before. Not their fault, there is a lot more to take in.

I advocate raising the age of consent to 25. Yes I do.

Unless of course they are in dem families, then the dependency exists their whole lives.

What’s even worse is that Faux News edits out the full name of the RCH’s Center for Adolescent Health and Gender Service. The “gender dysphoria” center now has a one-year waiting list and got up to 250 referrals in 2016.

Down with that, if...., there is a provision for so called Dreamers to only be eligible for legal status and cannot vote for 20 years, if...they become citizens...

Back when we had the Draft, American males matured real quick about the time they graduated boot.

Women like Missy Sawyer wouldn’t know about that.

Agree. I entered the Navy at 17, and have supported myself ever since. The idea of expanded/extended adolescence is equine excrement. Until the 20th Century, the concept of adolescence was practically unknown — one simply transitioned from childhood to adulthood.

Bring back the draft.

No, let's not. I served at the outset of the all volunteer force (76-84), those early years were a struggle, aided by the Carter Administration.

I was in battalion size units my entire time. You could see progress every year, sometimes haltingly.

The military is a tough enough place for those that want to be there.
